The All Important Red Hat

It's tradition.  I guess when you turn 50 you are given a red hat.  You join the red hat ladies group.  It's supposedly a big deal.
SURPRISE!!!  My mother turned 50 and so we had a surprise party for her.  It was wonderful.
Gobble, Gobble, Gobble.  It was a fun get-together this year since the family was all so close.  Thanksgiving dinner was just as wonderful as always.

The Lord's tender mercies

1.  No snow that sticks til December 1st.  Today was the day.
2. Friends that go out of their way to say simply, Hello...at the right moment during your day.
3. Natural wonders that surround us - this morning's fog over the water as I was driving to work or the scent of pine while talking to a good friend.

New discoveries

I am grateful for people who can quote the truth.  Relationships are so valuable.  Everyone needs good, enriching relationships in life.  I feel people have come and gone so often in my life.  I am grateful to have gotten to know them while they were there.
A patient of mine came in today and asked how many kids I had.  I said I wasn't married so it began a talk of dating and guys as usual.  Then he said, " Relationships are too valuable to be left up to men."
I am so grateful for that comment.  I can strive for relationships with those that I want one with, just by putting forth the effort.

Can you smell better with a larger nose?

I was watching the court jestor the other night and observing Danny Kaye and his larger nose.  I was talking to a friend about it and he said that he doesn't have a large nose.  I said he did.  Then I had time to think about who would have a larger nose.
Cyrano de Berberac
So I explained that Danny's isn't as large as some....but his caricatures of him are always with a prominent nose.  It made me smile.
However, I still do not know if you smell better with a bigger nose.

Thanksgiving Week begins

What a wonderful time of year.  I am so grateful for friends and family.  I am glad that the media leaves this Holiday alone.  That way we can enjoy it more.  Christmas is itching to start but I'm glad I have this week first.

The Halloween costume

Oh.....to be a Geisha is so complicated.
1.  Buy white paint.  This sounds easy.  I bought Moonlight               white paint and ended up looking like a baby blue                   smurf.
2.  Take blue face paint off.
3.  Makeup and costume.
4.  The accent.  I served a spanish speaking mission.  Therefore the only foreign language I know is spanish.  Each time I began to speak with a chinese accent, I would end up slipping in spanish words as they would come to mind.
5.  Have fun being in disguise at the Halloween dance.

Life is Open - one of my new favorite quotes :)

Isn't it wonderful to know that life's opportunities are never-ending.  Everyday you can find the simple joys in life.  Today an old friend from Tennessee came to visit and we just thought back on the friends we've known and old memories.  The one thing that remains constant is change ... and I'm grateful for it.

9/11

Just wanted to take a moment and ask ... do you remember where you were on Sept. 11th?  That day is unforgettable to me.  I am grateful for certain songs that came out because of that day.  Alan Jackson - 'where were you' and Toby Keith - 'the list'  ...  I remember turning on the t.v. right before the second plane hit the towers.

To be computer savvy

It's amazing to see how technology continues to advance.  Even more amazing, how humans cannot keep up.  I left to go on my LDS mission with dial up internet in my home.  I came back with wireless and routing systems.  Now I have made my own breakthrough of discovery how to set up a blog page.  You will have to give me some time to figure out detailing this page so it looks like I know what to do with a blog page because as of right now... this is an online posted email in my mind.  It's amazing to think of my grandparents limited computer and technology use and my mother's need for specific directions for using any program on the computer.  It would be easy to call it over our heads and yet the possibilities are endless.  What further developments will technology bring in the future?
